If you're playing pong or flying through a star field, you're active.
Dynamic messages are the same thing, but it's “easier”: you're not playing at the time, you're just reading a text.
I remember an addon I downloaded while playing wow classic, which let me play mini-games while traveling on a flight path (which can be very long). Same mood :)
